Miss Paulina Kumbuno from Nayagnia has been crowned 2018 Miss Navrongo.

The event that saw in attendance dignitaries from various parts of the Upper East Region saw ladies display their culture and a deeper understanding of the various issues affecting the Kasena Nankana Municipality.

This year’s event which was under the theme “Navrongo, the Garden of Eden in Decay” saw contesting ladies drawing attention to the need to uphold ethics and morality in order to make Navrongo and its environs one of the best places to be.

In a speech read on behalf of the Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayege, she indicated that she has the development of the girl-child at heart and that she has an initiative of working together with ladies to ensure that they find their voices in society and contribute towards the development of Ghana.

She mentioned that there was the need to provide such platforms for ladies in order for them to find themselves and get empowered.

She encouraged other ladies to take advantage of Miss Navrongo because it has the potential of making them who they want to become.

The Chief Executive Officer of Charger Limited, Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey speaking at the event reminded guests that gone were the days when the place of women was in the kitchen.

He noted that the place of the woman is now the boardroom where she makes strategic decisions in order to propel the development of the organizations and the country.

The reigning Miss Navrongo, Miss Paulina Kumbono’s project is focused on Mental Health. To her, the country has done little in caring for people with mental health issues. Her desire is to get most mentally ill persons out of the streets of Navrongo so they are given the needed care before she ends her reign.

According to her, their presence on the streets has public health and human rights implications and therefore its imperative that they are taken off the streets and given the needed attention and care.

In supporting her vision, the Chief Executive Officer of Charger Limited producers of Happy Man Bitters and Onaapo Atadwe Ginger, Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey pledged a seed capital of GhC 3000 to support the initiative to ensure that the project sees the day of light.
