Ashanti Chief entices investors with 'flexible' land acquisition offers 5

Newly-installed chief of Toase in the Ashanti Region, Nana Yim Awere Ababio, is encouraging local and foreign investors to take advantage of government’s One District, One Factory programme to invest in the area.

According to him, the area is suitable for the large scale cultivation of cassava and ginger which could be processed for industrial purposes.

He says Toase has flexible and documented plan for land acquisition as an incentive for medium and long-term investment.

The Toasehene noted that, over 85 per cent of residents there live below the minimum wage and are looking for an opportunity to create other avenues to improve their lives.

“We have vast land for investors with flexible terms to foster development,” he announced.

“If you are a native and you have spoken to any investor, please come on board, my doors are open for developments,” he told Nhyira FM at a free health screening event he organised for the people of Toase, on Wednesday.

As a first step, the community is establishing a technical and vocational training center to train youth in mobile phone repairs, shoemaking, tie and dye and other trades.

He added: “I will not sit-down unconcerned while my people languish in poverty. I will rather give them skill training while we wait for investors to create jobs.”

Nana Awere Ababio who is also Finance Officer at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, has set up a fund to support the education of brilliant but needy children in the communities.

He appealed natives and residents at home and abroad, to support the initiative while urging chiefs in the area to maintain peace for the welfare of their people.
