The Brooklyn, New York, native hopped on Instagram on Thursday (August 4) to get fans riled up for the highly-anticipated release.

In his post, Shmurda used an animated version of the cover art showing an oversized gorilla destroying Times Square while various songs play in the background.

The EP will be the precursor to Bobby’s debut album Ready To Live, which was supposed to drop sometime this summer.

The “Shmoney” rapper announced BodBoy last month in a press release that also revealed the launch of his own label GS9 Records, in partnership with ONErpm. The lead single, “Hoochie Daddy,” was released on July 22.

BodBoy will be Bobby Shmurda’s first solo project since his 2014 debut EP Shmurda She Wrote, which debuted at No. 79 on the Billboard 200 chart and contained the hit singles “Hot N-gga” and “Bobby Bitch.”

The wait for new material has left some fans frustrated, with some criticizing the rapper for taking his time following his release from a six-year prison sentence in February 2021.

The GS9 boss first explained the long wait was due to him enjoying his freedom but then claimed his label was holding him back from releasing a new project. Epic Records let him out of his contract in March, after which he celebrated on Instagram, claiming big things were on the way, such as his debut album and comeback EP, respectively.

Despite the slow process, fans have been treated to a healthy dose of new music while Bobby was trying to figure out his label situation. In the space of 11 months, the rapper released “Getting Em Back,” “They Don’t Know,” “Cartier Lens,” “No Time For Sleep,” “Shmoney” featuring Quavo and Rowdy Rebel, “Hitta” with Funk Flex and more.

As for his debut Ready To Live, Bobby Shmurda has an All-Star list of rappers helping him out, including Rich the Kid, Rowdy Rebel, 42 Dugg, DaBaby, Meek Mill, and Key Glock, among others.

As he told HNHH last month, “Ready To Live is like where I come from. I come from the slums. I see crack, I see drug dealers. I see pregnant people when they 13, 12. Ratchet shit all day, so just coming outside ready to live to finally get some breathe.”
