Ghana’s Grammy nominee, Rocky Dawuni, has said in an interview on Hitz Daybreak with Andy Dosty that a lot of people expected his “Branches Of The Same Tree” to win the Reggae category of the 2015 Grammy Awards.

The “In Ghana” hitmaker who’s currently in Ghana to promote his new “Beats of Zion” album was reacting to the question of whether he felt disappointed to lose the award to Morgan Heritage in 2015. Rocky said a lot of people felt his record should have been the winner instead of the eventual winner, Morgan Heritage.

“You know when you’re nominated for something like that a win comes to your mind. Everybody goes there with a prepared speech because you don’t know what’s going to happen. And believe me, a lot of people felt that was the record that should be the winner”, he asserted.

He however said that though he didn’t win the ultimate, he was very much appreciative of his nomination and the fact that he was nominated with reggae legends like Luciano and Barrington Levy who had been working very hard for a very long time without an award. He was also very appreciative of the appreciation from Morgan Heritage when he was on stage to receive the award.

He meanwhile was quick to reply that he won’t be disappointed if he’s not nominated again as he believes he’s set the pace for other Ghanaians to follow. Moreover, he thinks it’s not a one or two shot attempt in getting an award, hence, will be glad should it happen again as he sees his new album to be doing very well in the market.

He went on to reveal that his new “Beats of Zion” was in the Top 10 in the iTunes in America in its first day of release.
