Health Walk Preaching : the new Corporate and Evangelism Technology

In recent times, corporate and religious bodies are taking their core mandates and corporate social responsibilities to another level. For the churches, evangelism, the business of “populating Heaven to depopulate hell” has been a major end-time focus but with some creativity. Whereas for the corporate world, the monthly dose of health walks are an integral event to keeping their staff in right shape for better performances at the work place along side reaching out to their customers.

But how about combining the two in a single outreach! That is the new evangelism and corporate technology making trends among some organizations.

One of such churches using this innovation is the Church of Christ, Amrahia branch off the Dodowa Rd in the Greater Accra Region.

The church as part of its end of year events organized an evangelism health walk in and around the Amrahia community through Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge in Aburi. The exercise was to spread the gospel and to reach out to the community on the need to renew their faith in Christ , accept Salvation as well as to invite them to exercise on daily basis.

Organizers led members including children through miles of walk and preaching as they climbed the iconic mountain. They shared booklets and biblical tracts to residents and passers-by who visited the place to equally exercise. They also displayed placards with biblical inscriptions.

A leader of the Church, Dr. Collins Adu-Bempah Brobbey said Christians should always work towards keeping their bodies fit adding that it forms part of the fundamentals of the spirit life of all believers. He added that “If you don’t exercise, you can’t have the right state of mind, soul and spirit to worship your Maker”. While at that, he explained Christians should not forget their ultimate calling of winning more souls for Christ as stated in Mathew 28:18-20.

According to Dr Brobbey, the exercise will become a monthly outreach for the Church of Christ, Amrahia branch, due to the impart it has recorded with its first edition. He was excited over 60 members of the church took active part in the event , an estimate that beat their initial target.

He used the occasion to also encourage leadership of all Churches of Christ to be concerned about the physical well-being of their members while they spread the gospel.

The exercise was partly in memory of a dedicated member, Miss Sylvia Adu-Bempah Brobbey ( late ), who first introduced this initiative.
