I was hoping ‘GUDA’ would win Video of the Year – 3Music Awards founder 5

The founder of 3Music Awards has disclosed he was rooting for ‘GUDA’ by Ayat to win Video of the Year at the just ended second edition of 3Music Awards.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Sadiq Abdulai, stated his hopes for the young artiste stemmed from the fact that determining who wins that category was based more on the academy than the public voting.

He added, as an up and coming artiste who was able to make music and create a video which detailed culture of a section of people in northern Ghana, Ayat winning the award would have helped up the game of other young artistes.

“I remember on Thursday (before the show) I called Ayat to confirm if he has gotten his invite. When he replied ‘no’, I arranged for him to come. I was confident that he was going to win, but it turns out in terms of the vote cast, it did not work in his favour,” he told Andy Dosty.

Among the eight awards, Shatta Wale took at the just ended 3Music Awards was Video of the Year, with his song ‘Gringo’.

Kirani Ayat, who did not take the results well took to Twitter to vent out his anger at the organisers for not choosing his video which sought to promote the country and culture.

He wrote, “they complain of lack of culture, creativity and representation and when someone does it exceptionally, they turn a blind eye and continue with the mediocrity.”

“It’s so disappointing. They complain for lack of culture, creativity and representation and when someone does it exceptionally they turn a blind eye and continue with the mediocrity like WTF? Do you want progress or regress ? What are you trying to tell us to do yawa videos or ?”

Sadiq added his choice for Gospel Song of the Year was ‘Hosanna’, Group of the year ‘La Meme Gang’, and Afrobeat Song ‘Akwaaba’.

“I learnt the Bethel Revival Choir had a whole strategy in their church to get the group to win the awards they did,” he said.
