J. Cole Reflects On Birthday Love: “Time To Switch Gears”

J. Cole has officially turned 34, and many have flooded the rapper’s social media profiles with outpourings of birthday love. Still reeling off the still-building success of “Middle Child,” the ever-active Cole took a moment to address family, friends, and fans alike.
“Thank you for all the love,” he writes, via Twitter. “Next month will be 10 years since I first signed to jay, I been so blessed in my life and career even when I wasn’t recognizing it. I appreciate all your birthday wishes. Time to switch gears.”
While the wholesome nature of the statement is endearing in itself, the closing words continue to expand on a pre-existing notion. Cole has much to say this year, and he’s going to do whatever it takes to spread his message. Be it through Revenge Of The Dreamers 3, his own solo endeavors, or simply living vicariously through his Dreamville artists like JID, EarthGang, Cozz, Bas, Ari Lennox, and Lute, it’s likely that Cole’s 2019 campaign will be one for the ages. Whatever “gear” he’s contemplating, there are many eager to see where the road goes. Happy birthday Cole!
