A source is coming forward to reveal new information in the wake of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

The source spoke to Us Weekly, revealing, “It was in the heat of the moment and it was him overreacting. He knows that she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted.”  The source added that Jada isn’t mad at Will, but she wishes he didn’t get physical with Chris Rock.

Speaking about Jada, the source stated, “She’s not one of these women that needs protecting. He didn’t need to do what he did, she didn’t need protecting. She’s not a wallflower. She’s a strong woman, an opinionated woman and she can fight her own battles. But she will stand by him.” They added, “They protect their family. They’re all about their family and their kids. They’ve done everything to build this life for themselves.”

Will publicly apologized to Chris in a statement, which read, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,”

Will added, “I would also like to apologize to The Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.”
