Kanye West finished recording Donda at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and even slept in the makeshift studio while hosting listening parties for the album.

According to Pigeons & Planes, he was paying up to $1 million a day to stay at the stadium. The Chicago rap mogul posted a photo of his room on Instagram at the time, showing basic items such as a bed, suitcase, clothing rail, television and dumbbells.

“Off the Grid” co-star Fivio Foreign previously revealed Kanye enforced a strict dress code for his studio sessions at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“I learned [studio rules] from Ye,” he told the L.A. Leakers. “When we went to Ye’s shit he made us all wear like [Yeezy]. We had the vest on, he made us all wear Donda merch. I thought we were on Donda timing, I guess to get us in [that mindset].”

He added: “This is what he do. It’s like uniform. He give us Yeezys, some type of pants, cargo black-looking [pants] and Donda shirts. That’s what he do, so I guess it takes away the egos.”

Donda was released in August 2021 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after earning 309,000 album-equivalent units in just five days of tracking.

The album, named after Kanye’s late mother, featured guest appearances from JAY-Z, The Weeknd, Playboi Carti, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Lil Durk, Kid Cudi, DaBaby, Pop Smoke and many others.

It was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards, with “Jail” winning Best Rap Song and “Hurricane” winning Best Melodic Rap Performance.
