NBA YoungBoy may currently be locked up in a Baton Rouge jail, but his attorney is currently speaking out in the young rapper’s behalf advocating for and maintaining his innocence in a shooting that left one bystander dead.It was last weekend in Miami, prior to his set at Rolling Loud, that YoungBoy, born Kentrelle Gaulden, and his crew were the targets of a shooting attack. When his posse fired back, one of their bullets struck 43-year-old Mohamad Jradi, and in a new statement, NBA YoungBoy asserts that he wishes he was hurt instead of Jradi.

Gaulden’s attorney James Manasseh recently spoke to the Miami Herald, stating that his client is an “absolute victim” of an “assassination attempt” and that he told him, “I wish they would have gotten me, not him.”

Currently the 19-year-old is being detained for what a judge believes to be a violation of his probation, citing the shooting in addition to YoungBoy’s use of social media to talk “trash and smack.”

With the entire entourage claiming self-defense, Miami investigators could not charge any of them. However, detectives are still on the search for the driver of the Escalade from where initial shots came and could possibly charge the first gunman with a felony murder charge for Jradi’s death.
