NBA YoungBoy Wants In On Lil Wayne’s Collab With LSU Basketball Star Flau’jae Johnson

Lil Wayne is plotting a collaboration with Louisiana State University (LSU) women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson — and it may feature NBA YoungBoy.

In an interview with ESPN during LSU’s Final Four semifinal victory over Virginia Tech this past weekend, Weezy revealed he and Johnson have spoken about making music together.

The New Orleans rap icon was shown a clip of the 19-year-old college baller spitting some bars, as well as LSU coach Kim Mulkey singing George Strait’s 1987 country hit “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.”

“First of all, Flau’jae, shout out to her pops. Flau’jae’s flow game is bananas, crazy,” Wayne said, before adding: “Actually, me and Flau’jae, we’ve spoken. We’re about to connect musically soon, so look out for that.

“Shout out to Miss Kim, too. Miss Kim told me like, ‘You must. You must do something with my girl Flau’jae.’ I said, ‘Say less.’”

Johnson — who recently helped the LSU Tigers win their first NCAA national championship — certainly appears excited by the prospect of working with Weezy.

Johnson’s LSU teammate Angel Reese also caught wind of Lil Wayne’s comments this week and wasted little time asking to be a part of the collaboration.

“Just let me be the video vixen,” she wrote on Twitter along with crying face emojis.

Baton Rouge native NBA YoungBoy threw his hat into the ring as well and let it be known that he, too, wants in on the song.

“And just let me do the humming,” he wrote in response to Reese’s tweet, channeling his inner Kid Cudi.

Outside of her burgeoning basketball career, Flau’jae Johnson is a promising rapper who’s signed to JAY-Z’s Roc Nation as both an artist and an athlete. She released her debut album On My Own in 2019 and has since dropped several EPs and singles.

Before that, she appeared in the Jermaine Dupri-helmed Lifetime reality show The Rap Game when she was just 12, and made it to the quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent at 14.

Flau’jae’s auspicious talent is perhaps no surprise considering music is in her blood. The teen’s father, Jason “Camoflauge” Johnson, was an up-and-coming rapper whose 2002 album Keep It Real cracked the Billboard independent albums chart.

Six months before Flau’jae was born, though, tragedy struck when Jason was shot and killed in front of his recording studio in Savannah, Georgia.

As for Lil Wayne and NBA YoungBoy, the Louisiana rap stars have collaborated a handful of times in the past, including on “My Window” and “Bodybag” alongside Rich The Kid.

They also share plenty of mutual connections in the rap game, with YoungBoy dropping a joint project with Tunechi’s adopted father and former label boss Birdman, From the Bayou, in 2021.

The pair are currently working on a sequel to Cash Money’s 2000 hood flick, Baller Blockin.’
