NDC Treasurer remanded into prison custody 5

A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded into prison custody the Asawase Constituency Treasurer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Faiza Dauda in relation the violence that rocked the limited registration exercise in the area.

Chaos a week ago erupted at a registration centre after executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency clashed following a misunderstanding over the alleged registration of minors.

The escalating tension mounted the centre over reports both parties were bussing and registering minors which is said to have triggered the confusion.

It was reported earlier that the NPP in the area were bussing minors to register in the exercise meant to stop the dominance of the NDC ahead of the 2020 polls.

Faiza Dauda said to be linked to the violence was invited by the police after the incident, detained and arraigned before the Kumasi Circuit Court Friday where he was remanded to reappear on July 15, 2019.
