Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu-Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has cautioned National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates to forget coming into power in 2020 if they elect another presidential candidate aside from former President John Dramani Mahama at the polls next week.

Delegates and executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) across the country will on 23rd February elect a Presidential Candidate to lead the party into the 2020 general elections against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who is yet to officially declare his second term bid.

Several aspirants including former President John Mahama, Professor Joshua Alabi, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and Sylvester Mensah, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and Goosie Tanoh are struggling for the slot of the umbrella family .
Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh who was speaking in an exclusive interview with MyNewsGh.com, observed that former President John Dramani Mahama is the only candidate who can win back power for NDC in the 2020 elections.

According to him, John Mahama is not just affable and well-marketed, but he is the only president in the history of this country who has done a lot of developmental projects within a short time.

“If NDC wants to return to power in 2020, John Dramani Mahama is the right choice. The little mistake the party will make will affect us in the 2020 elections. We should forget power in 2020 elections without Mahama. Our delegates should be vigilant and not to be deceived by the other candidates. Without Mahama no candidate can win power for NDC in 2020 elections” he cautioned.

The outspoken NDC activist added that Ghanaians especially Ashanti Region have regretted voting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and therefore need to right their wrongs by voting for Mahama to redeem the country in 2020.
