Police arrest 19-year-old woman for abducting baby

A 19-year-old woman who abducted a seven month-old-baby girl at Asuboi Bonka in the Eastern Region last Thursday has been arrested by the Police.

Abena Priscilla is currently in police custody at Suhum assisting in investigations into the case.

She was arrested Sunday morning from her husband’s house at Akim Takyiman, where the baby was retrieved and has since been reunited with the parents.

Police say they had intelligence at about 4:00am Sunday about the hideout of the suspect and investigators from the Suhum Police Station were immediately deployed to Akim Kwamang and Akim Takyiman.

They managed to locate the suspect’s home at Akim Kwamang where they met her siblings.

The siblings, according to the police, told the investigators Abena Priscilla had gone to stay with her husband, who is a galamseyer, with the baby.

The investigators proceeded to the area and arrested Priscilla.

The police say the case was officially reported to them on Thursday, June 13 despite it happening the night before.

Earlier on that night at about 5:30pm, Abena Priscilla took the baby away and had since not returned.

She is a fiancée to Maxwell Agyeman, whose sister is the mother of the abducted baby.

3news.com gathers the suspect was babysitting for its mother while on a visit her fiancée.

She left the house to town with the pretext to buy food even though some was being prepared home by the baby’s mother.

After a while when she was not returning, the baby’s mother had to call her brother to ask Abena Priscilla, the girlfriend, to bring back the girl.

But every effort proved futile.

Police investigations reveal that about a month ago, suspect Abena Priscilla discussed with her boyfriend on how she could replace her stolen baby so she could be able to visit her father.

Maxwell is said to have promised Abena Priscilla and invited her to stay with him for a while.

He is currently is in police custody assisting investigation.

The Eastern Regional Police Command is making frantic efforts to arrest the suspect.
