President of Western Togoland separatist finally ‘freed’

MyNewsGh.com can confirm that the Mr. Charles Kormi Kudzodzi, the over 80-year-old leader of Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) championing the Independence of the Volta Region from Ghana, has finally been released on bail.

His son was at an Accra High Court 2, on Tuesday to sign for his bail after which he was chauffeur-driven back to Ho, the Volta Regional Capital after more than a week in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI).

Mr. Charles Kormi Kudzodzi was last week granted bail with two sureties one of whom should be justified to an amount of GH¢250000 for him to report two times to the investigators thus Mondays and Thursdays.

An Accra High Court 2 presided over Justices Jostice Jerome Noble-Nkrumah, Mrs. Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe and HL Justice Charles Edward Ekow Baiden however remanded the seven others including; Besa Amedeus Akorli, Blay Kaku Freeman, Nkpe Tornye Kudjo, Thomson Tsigbe, Agbenyega Akudzi, Dzereke Kofi and Benjamin Agbodzagah into prison custody to reappear on May 22, 2019.

The eight including the leader Mr. Charles Kormi Kudzodzi – popularly known as Papa Hogbedetor are facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime to wit treason felony contrary to section 23(1) and 182 (b)of the Criminal offences Act, 1960(Act 29).
