Young Thug’s Father Denies YSL Is A Street Gang While Addressing Son’s RICO Arrest

Young Thug was named alongside Gunna and 26 other people in an 88-page indictment from Fulton County prosecutors on Monday (May 9). They allege they’re part of the violent street gang Young Slime Life (YSL) and connected to multiple murders, armed robbery and several other crimes.

But according to Thugger’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., they’ve got it all wrong. Speaking to WSB-TV Atlanta this week, Williams explained YSL is a record label and business — not a criminal street gang.

“I think my son has been unfairly linked to a lot of things,” Williams said. “But it’s up to us to prove it.” Like Thug’s attorney Brian Steel, he vows to advocate for his son no matter what, adding, “I’m gonna fight for him to the end. I’m his father. That’s what I do.”

Young Thug has been charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and participation in criminal street gang activity. The District Attorney’s office said he’s not accused in the murders included in the indictment, though they do allege he rented a car used in the 2015 murder of Donovan Thomas Jr., a rival gang member. They also believe he gave the green light for a second attempt on YFN Lucci’s life in March.

While Thug remains behind the bars of a Fulton County Jail cell, Williams has a message for other parents: “I want any parent that has lost a child to the street violence, any parent that wants to join in marching on street violence, because these are our kids. These are our kids out here. That’s been misled.”

On Tuesday (May 10), Young Thug appeared in a Fulton County courtroom via video where the judge formally read his charges. Meanwhile, Gunna turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday morning (May 11). He faces one count of conspiracy to violate the RICO Act.
