Sally Akua Amoakowaa Mensah, otherwise called Akua GMB, has opened up about receiving a media personality award at the recent 2019 Gold Coast Excellence Awards, a career milestone she says she never imagined.

The host of Purple Room on Angel TV received a special recognition of most promising media personality at the award ceremony which came off Saturday night at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on March 23.

The award was to recognise and honour the most outstanding achievements of professionals in their various fields. Its categories cover a wide range of industries.

Akua described her recognition as a great encouragement to work extra.

“I’m happy to be doing what I love to do, and I just love to keep evolving and growing. It is a great feeling to receive an award like this. I didn’t expect it but for me that should be the essence of an award. It’s a great encouragement for me to keep working extra hard,” she told NEWS-ONE on Monday.

The mother of two boys has been described as one of the enterprising figures in Ghana’s showbiz scene.

She is currently the host of Purple Room on Angel TV and also the general manager at Angel TV.

She shot to fame after winning the 2011 edition of TV3‘s Ghana’s Most Beautiful reality show. She has since moved on to do a lot more on the showbiz scene.

Last year, she introduced the Miss Golden Stool, a new pageant to celebrate the rich culture of the people of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

It is also to empower indigenes from the region and remind them of their sense of identity while it imparts good values to the society.
