Alicia Navarro Reunited with Her Mother Years After She Went Missing as Teen

Alicia Navarro, the Arizona teenager who vanished in 2019 before reappearing four years later, has been reunited with her family.

“The support, prayers and love my family has received from all over the world for the last four years have been truly inspiring,” Navarro’s mother, Jessica Nunez, said in a Nov. Fa1 video posted to cebook. “This has been a very difficult journey, but it has a happy ending and today my family is complete again.”

Nunez wrote in a separate post that “God is a miracle worker” and asked for privacy. A family representative also confirmed to Fox 10 Phoenix that the mother and daughter are back together again after years of being apart.

Navarro disappeared after running away from her home in Glendale on Sept. 15, 2019, when she was 14 years old. On July 23 of this year, she told officers in Montana she wished to be taken off the missing persons list because “she wanted to begin her life as an adult,” according to according to an arrest affidavit for Edmund Davis, a man linked to Navarro.

Jose Santiago, a spokesman for Glendale police, said at a July press conference that Navarro arrived at the police station “at her own free will” and had been extremely cooperative with local and federal law enforcement, per Fox 10.

A development in the case came on Oct. 24, when a man who was living with Navarro was arrested, PEOPLE previously reported. The man, who authorities have identified as Davis, 36, was charged with two felony counts of abuse of children related to material found on his cellphone, according to a release from the Montana Attorney General’s Office.

It is unclear whether Davis has entered a plea or retained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

According to the affidavit, Navarro has autism. Neighbors previously told the Associated Press that she had been living with Davis, who authorities said was her boyfriend, for about a year.

No charges have been filed in connection with Navarro’s disappearance, which authorities have said is an ongoing investigation.
