Angel Reese Turns Down Jill Biden’s Invite To Have Both LSU And Iowa At White House
Angel Reese is not impressed with Jill Biden’s White House invite. The LSU Tigers player has had a strong response after the First Lady expressed her wish to invite both Angel’s team and the Iowa Hawkeyes to Washington D.C. following her team’s win at the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game.
“I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do,” Jill, who was at American Airlines Center in Dallas to witness LSU’s win on Sunday, April 2, said in Denver on Monday via ESPN.
Expressing her support for the losing team, the wife of president Joe Biden added, “So, we hope LSU will come. But, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game.”
Angel quickly reacted to the news on Twitter. “A JOKE,” she wrote with three laughing emojis to preface the words. After laughing it off, she seemingly took it seriously as she responded via the comments section of The Shade Room’s Instagram post, “WE NOT COMING. period.”
Inviting the losing teams of a championship to the White House is not something normal. However, a formal invitation has not been extended and it’s unclear if President Biden will also invite Iowa to the White House.
Meanwhile, Angel has been facing backlash over her gestures at the Sunday game. She was called out for her “classless” moves after taunting Iowa’s Caitlin Clark toward the end of the game by pointing to her finger, signifying that it was her turn to get that championship ring. She also hit Caitlin with the John Cena “you can’t see me” taunt as she walked past the Iowa point guard.
Caitlin had actually started it first as she had made the taunt in Iowa’s Elite Eight win when she had a 40-point triple-double, prompting a debate on social media after “No Class” became a trending topic on Twitter.
Defending the young athlete, Shaquille O’Neal clapped back at Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy who called the moves “classless piece of s**t.” The NBA legend wrote back, “And so is your mother.”
Angel herself has reacted to the backlash. “IDC BOUT NUN,” she responded to the criticism. She added in a separate tweet, “I LOVE BEING A BLACK QUEEN. And no I’M NOT KEEPING IT CUTE.”
