Burna Boy features in YouTube’s “Artist Spotlight Stories”

Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna boy, may already be one of the most successful musicians in Nigeria but his rise to fame remains a mystery to many people who enjoy his music both on the international scene and locally.

YouTube in its latest “Artist Spotlight Stories” series shed light on Burna Boy’s rise to international success from a humble beginning.

From borrowing beats off video games to producing earth-shattering afro-beat anthems, the film revisits his journey from his Nigerian upbringing to taking root in Brixton.

The 18-minute documentary, produced by YouTube Music, was launched at an exclusive watch party recently and tells the story of the rise of AfroBeats and the role YouTube has played, through Burna Boy’s eyes.

Directed by Maceo Frost, the spotlight reflects on Ogulu’s inspiration as a songwriter and celebrates his energy as a performer.
