David López renews with Girona until June 2026

Girona announced the renewal of the contract of David López , one of its leaders in the defense axis and a leading man in Míchel Sánchez’s schemes since he arrived at the club in the summer of 2022, from Espanyol, a team in which he was the captain after a lifetime with some parenthesis included.

The Catalan’s performance in the red and white team has been excellent and when he has been available, Míchel has always lined him up in the starting XI. David López has played 34 games for Girona, 20 last year and 14 this year, with five goals scored, a good number for a defender.

The centre-back, who can also play as a pivot if the coach or the team requires it , brings experience in defense and has formed an excellent team with Blind and Eric García, two players with better ball output but fewer duel winners, something that David López is used to achieving.

Girona thus ensures the continuity of a basic piece in the team for the next two seasons in which new adventures and strong emotions are coming for the Montilivi team.
