Remains of the late Anokye Supremo may not arrive in Ghana very soon, as his family is allegedly struggling to raise funds to retrieve his body from the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Mukundapur in India, where he died.
According to reports early this week, the hospital is demanding for full payment of $21,000 hospital bills.

The hospital won’t release the body to his family if the amount involved is not paid.

A NEWS-ONE source has alleged that the family doesn’t have money to take care of all expenses required to convey his body to Ghana.

Isaac Kwabena Zachariah, who is the manager of the late musician, confirmed this in a peacefmonline report in which he was quoted for appealing to all Ghanaians to contribute financially to help the family of the late musician retrieve his mortal remains from the hospital in India.

Besides the $21,000 hospital bills to be paid, he said there is also a cost for flying the body, among others, totalling $36,000.

“This amount excludes the costs involved in flying the mortal remains to Ghana. It is left with $21,000 after some people donated some amounts to foot the bill while Anokye Supremo was receiving treatment. The total amount of money we spent plus the 21000 will amount to 36000 and the hospital is demanding the payment before the body will released,” he revealed.

Anokye Supremo died on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, after a brain tumour surgery.

The manager is still in India ensuring the corpse is released by the hospital and returned to Ghana for a befitting burial.

He appealed to Ghanaians and sympathisers of the late musician to contribute their quota to help bring Anokye Supremo’s remains back home.

“Anyone who wants to give some money must contact this mobile number: 0243152213. This line is for the deceased but Kofi Adoma (of Kofi TV) is the person put in charge to receive the amounts and paid them into the hospital account for the release of the body,” he pleaded.
