Leave It to Selena Gomez to Make Bedhead Look Super Cute
Selena Gomez has never been shy about sharing candid moments of her life with fans, whether it’s via a simple makeup-free selfie or her documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, in which viewers see the toll that lupus and bipolar disorder have taken on her. So we don’t expect the Disney Channel alum to present her life as flawless. Despite that, we were amused when she posted what is probably the most believable I-woke-up-like-this picture.
Gomez posted an old photo of her and her friend’s epic bedhead to Instagram on April 11. “What do we do during our sleep that this is the result? I thought I never moved.. love you bestie,” the caption read. The duo were seated beside each other in oversized wolf T-shirts; Gomez’s was a black shirt while her friend’s was blue. Both their heads were full of frizz, waves, and — let’s be real — likely tons of knots. Gomez’s hair was longer, so her bedhead was even bigger than her friend’s.
Several Selenators flocked to the comments to either laugh or praise the candid photo. One fan even made a reference to the Crazy Hat Song from Wizards of Waverly Place. “Overslept hair unsightly,” the comment read. For those unfamiliar with the Disney Channel show, Alex Russo, played by Gomez, and her best friend Harper would sing the chant whenever they spotted a strange hat.
The song goes as follows: “What’s that? A hat? Crazy, funky, junky hat. Overslept, hair unsightly. Trying to look like Keira Knightley. We’ve been there, we’ve done that. We see right through your funky hat.” Just a year ago, Gomez reunited with Jennifer Stone, who played Harper, and the duo performed the chant for Gomez’s TikTok followers to the delight of many fans of the Disney Channel show.
Thankfully, Gomez didn’t grab a hat to cover up her messy hair because if she did, we wouldn’t be able to appreciate this glorious bedhead.
