METRO BOOMIN TAPS FUTURE, LIL UZI VERT, J.I.D & MORE FOR ‘SPIDER-VERSE’ SOUNDTRACK

Metro Boomin has tapped Future,Lil Uzi Vert,J.I.D and a slew of others for the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack.

The multi-platinum producer began unveiling his collaborators in a similar fashion to that of his Heroes & Villains rollout last year, which involved him posting illustrated comic book caricatures of his guests.

For the Spider-Verse rollout, each guest was fittingly drawn to include their own Spider-Man costume, and over the course of this past week, Metro revealed the album will feature a plethora of talent.

In addition to Future, Uzi and J.I.D, fans can expect appearances from Swae Lee, Nav, Don Toliver, Coi Leray, James Blake, Beam and Toian.

Serving as the sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the latest animated film continues the story of Miles Morales, the half-Black, half-Latino teenager who’s trying to serve his city as the famous web-slinger.

Metro Boomin was originally tapped for the soundtrack — which coincides with the movie’s release on June 2 — back in December.

All eyes will be on the Boominati boss to see if the project can match the hype of its predecessor. The first Spider-Verse soundtrack spawned the blockbuster single “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee, which was certified diamond in 2021 and became the jointhighest-certified single in RIAA history last November.

As for Metro’s previous effort, Heroes & Villainsdebuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 185,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Metro fended off competition from Taylor Swift’s Midnights for the top spot, out-selling the pop juggernaut by over 40,000 units.
