Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap was one of the best album’s of 2018. Personally, it was the AOTY, but that is another debate. Hussle’s ascension to a commercially viable level has been a long time coming, but finally, he snagged a Grammy nomination. Victory Lap is up for album of the year, but it will be competing with Mac Miller’s Swimming, Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy, Pusha T’s Daytona, and Travis Scott’s Astroworld. As reported by HHDX, Hussel hit The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles on Wednesday (January 16) to celebrate the Grammy nod. The event was sponsored by Puma and Diddy’s Ciroc and DeLeón Tequila were offered as drinks. Several heavyweights in the industry came to celebrate with Hussle including Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, T.I, Dave Chappelle, DJ Mustard, and Tiffany Haddish.

The Grammys have been scolded by hip-hop fans for years, and the committee has been trying to make sure nominations reflect the culture more accurately. They did a decent job this year, although overlooking J. Cole’s KOD is definitely a fail. One step at a time though. My prediction is the Grammy committee gives the award to Cardi B or Pusha T. Who do you think will win the Best Rap Album Grammy this year?
