Police making progress in finding kidnapped girls – Security analyst

The Police are making progress towards locating the whereabouts of the three kidnapped girls in the Western Region.

The suspect who is currently in police custody and was hesitant in cooperating with police investigation, has reportedly given useful information that is helping the police in the search for the girls.

This is according to security analyst Dr. Adam Bona, who has been closely following the issue and is in touch with the security authorities as well as the families of the victims.

Speaking on The Big Issue, Dr. Bona expressed optimism that the police will be able to crack down on the kidnappers and reunite the kidnapped girls with their families.

“Police CID Headquarters has intervened and sent a crack team to the Western Region and they started working on him. As we speak, they are almost there,” he said.

Dr. Bona who could not give full details explained that the information available could compromise the work of security agencies if immediately made public.

Five girls in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis in the Western Region are believed to have been kidnapped between August 2018 and January 2019

The only suspect in Police custody, Samuel Udoetuk Wills, is said to be behind the kidnapping of three girls in the Western Region between August and December 2018.

Samuel Udoetuk Wills is currently in police custody in Accra after he broke jail and went into hiding but was later rearrested at Nkroful near Takoradi.

He has failed to provide the location of the kidnapped girls.

The Police are currently under public pressure to aggressively pursue the case as there have been more reports of kidnapping in the country.

The top hierarchy of the police have given assurances that they will arrest the suspects and find the missing girls.

The Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Redeemer Dedjoe, earlier this week said his office has picked up some new leads that could aid their investigations to find the three girls who were abducted in Takoradi.

Family traumatized over 18-year old girl’s disappearance

Meanwhile, the family of Ruth Love Quayson, one of the kidnapped girls said they are still traumatized despite the re-arrest of the suspect, Samuel Udoetuk Wills.

Awuradjoa Quayson, a sister to one of the missing girls – Ruth, said her sister’s disappearance is affecting her family.

“Even when your child is sick, imagine the trauma you go through as a parent. How much more kidnapping? My mother has not been able to sleep from the very day the kidnapper escaped from the cells.”

“It has not been easy for the past one month, knowing that, our relative is there, but you are not hearing from her. You can’t even tell whether she has eaten or not,” she added.
