The New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman for the New Juaben North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, has said assaulted Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, deserved more than just one slap.

According to him, the physical assault the legislator was subjected to during Thursday’s Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election was appropriate and not enough, considering his conduct.

To him, the assaulted MP should have been slapped many more times for causing fear and panic.

“The fact that you are an MP doesn’t mean you should misbehave. Sam George should have received more slaps. He was even lucky that he ran after the first slap. How can you cause fear and panic and claim that you were shot 15 times,” he quizzed on Adom FM’s “Dwaso Nsem” show Tuesday.

Mr George was assaulted by some persons suspected to be part of state security team who rode in the vehicle of the Ghana Police Service during the election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

Widely-circulated footage had the MP engaged in a heated verbal exchange with the personnel before two of them attacked him by unleashing a few doses of slaps.

But Mr Boateng-Agyemang blamed the NDC MP for not presenting himself at the event grounds as part of the monitoring or observer team drawn from Parliament, but rather going to the constituency with a violent mentality ostensibly to create chaos.
