The most shocking death in the music industry for years came on Wednesday, 17 November 2021, when 36-year-old-rapper Young Dolph was shot dead in Memphis.

An unknown gunman drove up and shot Young Dolph while he was outside Makeda’s Cookies in Airways Boulevard, according to reports.

Tributes immediately poured in from the likes of Megan Thee Stallion and Chance the Rapper, while protégé and cousin Key Glock recently dedicated a new tattoo to the artist.

News of the funeral went viral on 1 December, with fans curious to know more details.

Young Dolph’s casket is indeed gold-coloured, as the viral photos are confirmed by images shared by the official funeral service, NJ Ford and Sons Funeral Home on Facebook.

However, there’s no way to judge from one photo whether it truly is 24-karat gold, the purest form of the precious metal.

Similarly, there are another two shots of Young Dolph reportedly lying in a $200,000 reinforced plexiglass casket surrounded by $50,000 cash. The Focus has been unable to confirm with attendants whether the image truly is of the rapper.

Details about the funeral

Taking place on Tuesday, 30 November in his home town of Memphis, Tennessee, the funeral was a private ceremony at the First Baptist Church Broad Avenue.

Memphis police were on hand to lead the procession and block streets for traffic control.

Details of the funeral programme have been released online. It is entitled Celebrating The Life Of Adolph “Main Main” Thornton Jr and features images of the rapper from childhood through to scenes with his son and daughter.

His son, Tre Tre, Key Glock and Bankroll Freddie were seen at the ceremony, as shared by Twitter. As the ceremony was off-limits to fans, many of them visited Makeda’s Cookies to lay flowers.
