Chris Rock Only Watches ‘Emancipation’ To See Will Smith Getting ‘Whipped’

– Chris Rock is saving his best material for his upcoming Netflix special and if his recent stand-up shows are any indication, he doesn’t run out of steam on Will Smith’s Oscar slap. The comic recently joked about how he’s hate-watching his former friend’s latest movie, in which the Oscar-winning actor plays a tortured, escaped slave.

“I rooted for Will Smith my whole life,” Chris recently told a packed theater, according to the New York Post. But that has since changed as he added, “The other day, I watched ‘Emancipation’ just so I could watch him getting whipped.”

Titled “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage”, the special will stream live on Netflix on Saturday, March 4 at 10 P.M. ET from the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore. It will be the first ever livestream broadcast by the streaming service, and Chris will be joined by comics Amy Schumer, 41, Jerry Seinfeld, 68, and Leslie Jones, 55, during his performance.

An insider told Page Six, “If you were waiting to see Rock on tour address the infamous Will Smith slap situation… the comedian is waiting to spill his humorous take on it on his live Netflix stand-up special.”

Another source added, “People need to tune in till the last joke, they will not be disappointed.” Chris is said to have teamed up with “veteran” comedy writers to make sure his show and material are “solid” and funny.

In the meantime, Will has made his awards show return after he’s banned from the Oscars and associated Academy Awards events for 10 years following his controversial behavior at last year’s show. He took the stage at the African American Film Critics Association Awards on Wednesday, March 1 to deliver an acceptance speech as he and director Antoine Fuqua were honored for “Emancipation”.

He joked about getting spat on by a white actor during the filming. “It was the second day of shooting and 110 degrees,” he recalled onstage. “I was in a scene with one of the White actors, and we had our lines, and the actor decided to ad-lib. So, we’re doing the scene. I did my line. He did his line. And then he ad-libbed and spit in the middle of my chest. If I had pearls on, I definitely would’ve clutched them. I wanted to say, ‘Antoineeeeee,’ but I stopped, and I realized that Peter (his character) couldn’t have called the director.”
