On Thursday, March 2, the 50-year-old actress uploaded a photo of her smiling next to her singer ex to honor him on his 46th birthday. The sweet photo Gwyneth shared was a rare selfie that saw the Academy Award winner making a head-touching pose with her ex. Still, it was not the first time the mother of two gave away their post-split togetherness on social media.

Back in November 2017, the star of “The Goop Lab” put out a photo of her smiling ex sitting next to her now-husband, Hollywood producer Brad Falchuk. In the caption, she simply wrote, “Sunday brunch #modernfamily.” The photo itself and the modern family hashtag clearly showed the unbreakable bond they had.

Gwyneth and Chris were married for ten years before they went public with their so-called “consciously uncoupling” in 2014. They were officially divorced in 2016. The two shared an 18-year-old daughter, Apple, and a 14-year-old son, Moses, together.

Despite their split, the former couple remains on good terms. Speaking to Britain’s ES magazine in 2019, Gwyneth admitted that she still talked to Chris on a daily basis. “I see him every day, I talk to him every day, ” she said. “And it was very difficult (at first), but I think you see in the children that they got through it, so I am proud of us, I really am. We kept our commitment that we would put the children first.”

The actress went on to add, “Family structure can be reinvented and divorce doesn’t have to be devastating… It doesn’t have to be the end of your relationship with somebody. I think Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids. But our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family.”
