J. Cole has recalled some fond memories from his past travels while promoting his new single with Bas, including a trip he made with Canadian producer T-Minus that he claims got him “back outside.”

On Wednesday (July 19), the Dreamville boss shared a snippet of the music video for “Passport Bros” on Instagram. He captioned the post: “New @bas featuring me ‘passport bros’ [nine fire emojis] Man this song gonna forever remind me of Barcelona, @tminus bachelor trip that brought me back outside.”

He added: “Also the Tokyo trip that both didn’t happen and happened at the same time [three crying with laughter emojis] GO RUN IT UP, bas new album on the way ‘we only talk about real shit when we’re fucked up’ sheeeeeeeesh produced by @dzl.6 and @aziztheshake by the way.”

“Passport Bros” is likely a preview of Bas’s upcoming album, We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up, the release date of which has yet to be revealed.

Cole has cultivated a reputation as being one the most valuable features in modern Hip Hop, which is precisely why even Drake wants an assist from the Fayetteville native. Despite being one of the top artists in the world for over a last decade, the Canadian star isn’t above asking his friend and peer for a favor.

During the 6 God’s stop in Montreal for his It’s All A Blur Tour on Saturday (July 15), he surprised the crowd by bringing out Cole to replace 21 Savage, much like he did the night before. During a brief intermission, Drizzy touched on Cole’s next album and enlisted the help of the entire crowd while petitioning for a feature on the forthcoming project.

“Maybe I could get on the album?” Drake asked eagerly, which prompted J. Cole to let out an empathetic: “N-gga!”

“Can I get on the album? I’ma ask in front of Montreal. ‘J. Cole, can we get on your album?’” Drake continued as the audience applied more pressure on the Dreamville founder who eventually relented. “Say less, goddammit!” he told Drake.

After successfully securing a spot, Drizzy called on the audience once again to show love to his longtime friend and collaborator before he departed the stage.

“Montreal, I want you to understand something,” he said. “It takes somebody that really not only loves the art of this shit, but really loves all of you to get on a plane, come here for two nights and represent for Montreal.

“So make some muthafuckin’ noise for my brother, all the way from the ‘Ville, he goes by the name of Jermaine Cole. I need you to get as loud as you can!”
